Reagent for flue gases desulfurization
Flue gas desulphurization in compliance with IMO 2020 is becoming more sought after nowadays. Sulphur dioxide (SO2) is mainly produced by burning fossil fuels. It is one of the most harmful pollutants which appear as the result of human activity. Sulfur dioxide affects health and causes acid rain, both at the local and regional levels. It harms nature and the environment. It is therefore no wonder that the International Maritime Organisation, or IMO, came with new regulations from 2020 onwards to cap Sulphur pollution through marine fuels.
Flue gas desulphurization in compliance with IMO 2020
During the last 50 years, the negative impact of sulfur dioxide on the environment has constantly increased. The increasing energy needs resulted in the construction of large power plants and the use of increasingly high stacks for dispersion of emissions. Therefore, desulphurization of flue gases is one of the most urgent problems of humanity. Europiren B.V. offers a solution for this. We distribute MagTreat, which is the current most effective method to desulphurize flue gases in compliance with IMO 2020.
Application of MagTreat
MagTreat is used in the desulphurization of flue gas in compliance with IMO 2020. It is one of the most effective methods to remove sulfur from the coal in which it is contained in the form of organic sulfur or pyrites. This can be done before, during, and after combustion. In practice wet enrichment of coal before combustion can only remove a part of the pyrite though. Removing the sulfur from the flue gas after combustion is by far the most effective way to control the sulfur content. The efficiency of this method is up to 98% and is achieved by several commercially available technologies.
Possibilities of MagTreat
The desulphurization of flue gas using MagTreat offers a number of possibilities, which consist of:
- Purification of exhaust gases from thermal power stations combusting black oil, peat and coal.
- Removal of sulfur from oil and gas of oil and gas deposits by burning out hydrogen sulfide to sulfur dioxide.
- Purification of exhaust gases of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy.
- Production of valuable fertilizers.
